Apparently Patty only needed one day in the spot light as pet of the week because she was adopted today!  Ivan (cat) and Evie (dog) were also adopted.  So who else is at the shelter?

Maino, 11 month old Pit Bull mix

Maino is a one year old male Pit Bull terrier. His owners had to move from their home and could not take him where they were going. He is used to living indoors and is housebroken although he does occasionally chew. If you have another dog and are interested in Maino, we advise that you bring them with you to meet him as well since he is used to being the only dog in the household. Maino seems to do ok with some other dogs but is very robust in his play and we need to make sure everyone is compatible before he is adopted. He is also house trained. Maino is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $175. As with all of our “bully” breeds, a home visit will be required prior to adoption.

Pumpkin, 6 months old

Pumpkin is a polydactyl orange tabby who has been at our shelter since early October. She is adorable but she often is overlooked because she is very reserved. Pumpkin was fostered during the Holiday and she felt much more comfortable in a home environment. She reacts best to a calm, soothing voice and if you stay on her level (don’t hover above her). She enjoys toys that have bells on them. Pumpkin needs a little TLC at first but she is a very sweet and well-mannered cat. She will do best in a calm and peaceful household. Her adoption fee is $100.

Tomorrow I’ll be going to PAWS and taking video of some of the pets, so keep a look out for tomorrow’s post!

A week that went to the dogs!

Congratulations to the 2o dogs that were adopted last week!  Of course we can’t forget the fact that there were also 9 cat adoptions (including Drift, who had been at PAWS for about 5 months!

Well with that many adoptions, there must not be any animals left to adopt, right? WRONG! There’s still a ton of pets at PAWS that need a home, like Black Mamba and Santa’s Little Helper.

Black Mamba, 3 years old

Black Mamba is a beautiful solid black cat who is searching for her charmer. She is a special needs cat who will need a loving and devoted owner. Black Mamba is heartworm positive. Cats usually have a natural defense against heartworms but sometimes an infected mosquito can bite them and heartworms can develop. Unfortunately, there is no cure for heartworms in cats like there is for dogs. However, there are preventative measures to help keep the problem from getting any worse. Mamba’s adoption includes a six-month supply of heartworm prevention. As we require for all our adoptions, Black Mamba will need a post adoption exam provided by a regular veterinarian, with emphasis on her heartworms. Other than that, Black Mamba can live like any other cat. We don’t want Black Mamba’s condition to prevent her from living a prosperous and happy life. She is a little timid at first but once you charm the Black Mamba she is extremely affectionate and loving.

Santa's Little Helper, Lab mix, 1 years old

Santa’s Little Helper is a one year old lab mix who is very sweet and very energetic. PAWS got her from Animal Control before her time was up over there. “SLH” will need to have a strict indoor-only home because she can climb a fence. She is also full of energy and will need someone who will be willing to run and play with her. Like all animals at PAWS, she has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $175.

Interested in either of these ladies? Come visit them at the shelter to learn more about them one on one!
