This week instead of having TWO Pets of the Week, we have THREE!  Cowboy, Ranger, and Dixie!

Cowboy and Ranger are large, lazy, and affectionate Manx cats looking for a loving home. They are both 5 years old and have no tails. We do not want these brothers to be apart. Cowboy is a little shy but calm and very sweet. He is the largest at 17.5 lbs! Ranger is friendly and more outgoing. He has a laidback and affectionate attitude. They are both well behaved and very used to living indoors. Cowboy and Ranger are looking for a quiet household where they can be lazy and get lots of petting. Both cats are neutered, current on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and micro-chipped. Their adoption fee together is $125. PAWS Humane offers a senior citizen adoption discount of $50 per pet. Cowboy and Ranger could be adopted together to a qualifying senior citizen home for only $25!

Dixie is a small female Beagle mix about four years old. No longer wanted by her owner, she and another dog were recently pushed out of a car in the Animal Control parking lot and left to fend for themselves. Poor Dixie was so scared she ran and hid until finally, a shelter staff member was able to coax her to come to her. She is a precious girl and is very friendly now that she feels comfortable and safe. Dixie is looking for a home with a family who will never abandon her again. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $175.

Come to the shelter and say hello to these wonderful furry pals and maybe you’ll even fall in love!

Doxie was with us at Petco this past Saturday(great dog, by the way, how do they ever forgive the humans who mistreated them so quickly?) and guess what? She was adopted!! By a nice young woman who wanted a companion to share in some of her outdoor adventures. While we had Dixie at Petco, she was wonderful-didn’t act in an aggressive manner when approached by other dogs, didn’t act “bothered by Will and Kate when they were were after her”, barked very little and only when she was crated. Very low key and very sweet. She may be “just a hound” and the adoptive parent did benefit from the “hound dog” discount on Saturday, but we believe she would have adopted her without that motivation. Both looked very happy walking out of the store. This woman just wanted a dog to be a friend and to do some things with her like some of her friends’ dogs did with them. We believe Dixie will fulfill that wish. Shame on the cowardly person who “dumped” her out of his/her car to fend for herself. Thank God, she’s finally found an owner who can appreciate her for the great dog she can be. Best wishes to Dixie and her new owner.
